FOOTBALL. AFL.

The most popular sport in Victoria since it was first formed with 8 teams in 1896.

In 2011, there were 650,373 football club members across 17 clubs. With non-members, this number could go into the millions.

With the introduction of 2 new clubs recently, it doesn’t sound as if our love for sport is dwindling.

But are we obsessed?

I talked to a couple of AFL fans, as well as Deakin University Lecturer in Sociology Dr Bernie East, to see what they had to say.

Is it just a part of being Australian and having healthy, aware citizens? Or is it too much, and overshadows more important issues?

Go on, watch the video and make your own decision!

So, what’s your opinion? Have your say in the comments.
